Budvanski karneval
Under the slogan "Spreading Love", the Budva Carnival turned the medieval Old Town into a five-day celebration on the Adriatic. Its centerpiece: an international parade of more than 2,500 costumed performers in over 70 groups, from Italy and Spain to Greece, Turkey and Bolivia. We covered it in photo and video — the masks, the movement and the color against the ancient stone. Content built to capture one of the coast's most vibrant events.
Behind the project
Every spring, the Budva Carnival opens the season on the Montenegrin coast — and its 2025 edition, held under the slogan "Spreading Love", was one of its biggest yet. Across five days the celebration moved from the Abrum along the Riviera into the streets of the medieval Old Town, building to its centerpiece: a grand international parade of more than 2,500 performers in over 70 carnival groups, traveling from Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Bolivia and beyond. Few events pack this much color into a setting this old.
Our role was to capture it in photo and video. Across the carnival we shot the parades, the costumes, the performers and the crowds filling the Old Town, then cut and graded the material into a content package that carries the full scale and spirit of the event. The goal was to do justice to both the spectacle and the setting — thousands of masks moving through centuries of stone and sea — and to leave the Tourism Organisation with content that sells the carnival, and Budva, long after the last group passes through the gates.
