NATIONAL DAY OF MONTENEGRO
July 13th is Montenegro's Statehood Day, and in Budva it doubles as a celebration of the town's own Tourism Organisation. The square in front of the Old Town became a stage for fashion, city music and headline concerts, closing with fireworks over the walls — all in front of a summer crowd tens of thousands strong. We covered it in photo and video, capturing a proud national holiday at its most festive.
Behind the project
Montenegro's Statehood Day, marked every July 13th, is one of the country's most meaningful dates — and on the coast, Budva turns it into a celebration to match. Organized by the Tourism Organisation of Budva alongside its own anniversary, the program filled the square in front of the ancient Old Town walls with a children's fashion show, city music, headline concerts by beloved regional names, and a fireworks finale, all while tens of thousands of visitors filled the riviera at the height of summer.
Our role was to capture it in photo and video. Across the celebration we shot the performances, the crowd, the atmosphere and the fireworks over the Old Town, then cut and graded the material into a content package the Tourism Organisation can use to promote both the holiday and the destination. The result honors the spirit of the day — proud, festive and unmistakably Budva — and gives the town a lasting record of one of its biggest nights of the season.
